Instructor, Inner Power Yoga Studio
Leia’s first exposure to the ancient practice of yoga was at the age of eight years old, when her spiritually-inclined mother, Carmen Joy, threw her a yoga themed birthday party. This initial experience would blossom into a deep and dedicated practice; by the time she was in high school, Leia had already begun working at Inner Power Yoga in Calabasas, CA as the front desk receptionist, and exploring many of their diverse yoga and meditation classes. Over the years, Leia has built on her love and reverence for ancient spiritual philosophies.
As a highly successful swimmer in high school and college, Leia found yoga to be a fundamental component to her success in the pool, as well as a spiritual solace. After graduating from Soka University of America, she returned to Inner Power Yoga and completed 200 hours of teacher training through Yoga Alliance. Drawing upon the influence of various yogis and yoginis, including His Holiness Swami Vidyadishananda, Kali Ray, Linda Suffin, and Wayne Lehrer. Leia’s classes embrace a healing hatha vinyasa flow deeply rooted to breath and intention, with a focus on alignment. Through playful sequencing and conscious movement, Leia aims to cultivate a transcendental experience, uniting the physical body to the spiritual self. Leia is honored to share what she has discovered and experienced through yoga as an act of seva to communities around the world.
